What do Savannahs eat?
Savannahs are considered domestic cats and can be fed cat food like any other domestic. BUT don’t go cheap. Just like a fancy car should have premium gas. Your fancy cat should have premium food. They should be on a high protein non grain food, mostly wet, dry can be offered for snacking.
I feed my Savannah’s a raw chicken diet that I make, grinding up chicken in my meat grinder. Meat, bones, organs, skin and all. Leg quarters boneless, chicken breast, hearts, gizzards, liver, and alternate through the meat grinder.
I then add vitamins and supplements to each feeding so they have a balanced diet. I do offer dry food to the adults to free grazing in between the morning and evening feedings. The dry food I use is NutriSource.
But there are lots of high quality dry foods out there. Be sure that when you get your kitten that you keep your fur baby on the same food that the breeder used and GRADUALLY change their diet if you choose to. Never abruptly change food or it will make them sick. Just like any other cat.
I also feed my cats, whole pray, such as baby chicks, guinea pigs and quail. I ordered them online, they come frozen. I thaw them and feed them. And they love it!
